Positions for yoga of sound

Saint-Augustine

How to get the best out of this cd ?
You will hear a syllable over and over on each track. You will have time to repeat each sound every time you hear it. You can also sing with the voice. Be inspired by the background sound of the sea. The song of the waves has been chosen especially to blend with "character" of each shakra.

What should be our position when doing yoga of sound ?
Sit down cross-legged, in the Buddha position or in the normal Western style on a chair (on the edge of the chair). Don't cramp yourself, you will need to be able to breathe freely.

There is no right way to do yoga.
We will propose several variations and you will find others. You can play a set rhythm over several weeks; one shkra per week's listening, singing a track every day on a selected track. You can put the cd on and listen to it as you practise your hatha-yoga. Before beginning a programm, it would be best if you tried out the first track; that way you will have a better idea of how to proceed subsequently.

"Songs are the greatest expression of joy. Just as those who reap the harvest or pick the grapes, or toil anywhere sing in the ardour of their work. Their happiness can become so intense that the words of the songs are no longer enough to reflect it. The lyrics are exchanged for just a joyful melody, their hearts carrying in song all that cannot be expressed in words alone." Saint-Augustine

This superb text sheds light on what the mysterious yoga of sound can be. It shows to what extent the voice can be true access medium to the deepest self. The sounds that we sing will first bring peace. Then  this peace, once fully experienced, will enhance our awareness of the power of the voice. Then each person can explore the next steps of the journey, helped by regular practice.
